Independent Thinking

Partisan politics

A devastating societal syndrome conflicting our world today is the lack of independent thought. Fundamental factual knowledge is the fuel for independent thinking and sound decision making. Whether a nation, society, party, cult, neighborhood, or gang—when people are reliant on the dictates of one person or one-party uttering falsehoods, fabrications, and untruths and are accepted without question, independent thought no longer exists. Without it, one is but a puppet, with no mind of their own. Anger, disdain, prejudice, or partisan politics, controls the strings. These mandated beliefs jail thinking entirely, thus these puppets never actually “think or reason” they merely regurgitate.
Mandated thought breeds egotistical and selfish attitudes which accentuate negativity at the cost of kindness, happiness, and empathy, which stagnates and paralyzes progress and will move us backwards. Reliant thinking thwarts any movement beyond the beliefs of the string-controllers. We are forever being “told” what to believe, think, do, and how to act. Biased media and partisan politicians regurgitate lies and conspiracy theories without regard to truth or fact checking, and reliant citizens believe—becoming puppets.
Independent thinking is required to achieve the truth. To truly triumph, one must avoid the banal influences of partisan politics and think for oneself using factual truths. One must move beyond reliance and celebrate one’s ability to think independently—this results in true wisdom. Aristotle, Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and other independent thinkers used fundamental factual knowledge to feed their independent thought—look where it got them. Cut the strings.
